Story

The Fancott Miniature Railway runs in the garden of the Fancott public house just outside Toddington. It is run by volunteers and any money raised is used for the upkeep and improvement of the railway and also, but more importantly, to offer free rides to community groups. We have worked with the children, families and helpers at Keech Cottage for several years and this year they have a regular Wednesday booking to ride on the railway. Having spoken to the support staff they have said that many more children would be able enjoy the railway as a recreational activity if we had a wheelchair accessible carriage. We are also actively working with several other special schools, scout and disability groups to enable them to use the railway as an educational or recreational activity.

On our Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/FancottMiniatureRailway) we recently carried out a survey regarding people's opinion regarding the purchase of the carriage. The survey reached over 6500 people and we received many messages of support and promises of donations. As a result of the Facebook post a gentleman, who is running an extreme marathon, has offered to donate his sponsorship money to us, so many thanks to him.

We have obtained a quotation from the manufacturer and the carriage is £6400 including delivery. The railway has set aside £1000 and is holding several fundraising events this year to put further funds towards the carriage.

So we have started the ball rolling but any additional donations would be gratefully received.
