Story
In December 2018 Sepsis, the silent killer, claimed another victim when my lovely wife of 48 years died suddenly while we were on holiday in Lanzarote.
My life was changed forever .
During the second lockdown in November 2020 I started walking regularly and decided to take up the challenge of completing the virtual walk from Lands End to John 0 Groats.
The walk started on November 23 and although 12 months is allowed I am hoping to complete the challenge by mid summer.
I'm averaging between 30 and 40 miles a week so fingers crossed.
I'm doing this not only as a personal challenge as I reach 75 years of age but mostly in memory of Jean and all she means to so many friends and family .
Over to you.

4 years agoI made it. Exactly four months or 17 weeks after setting off I reached the end of my 874 mile trek with a leisurely 3 mile walk to my daughter's home. I felt very emotional at the finish but after a few ciders I was talking about my next challenge. I have walked every day except for the one I spent in hospital and I want to say a huge thankyou to everyone who has supported me. I have raised over £2,000 for Sepsis research and I'm keeping my Justgiving page open for a few weeks should you wish to help. So thankyou all again. I'm so pleased.

4 years agoNot far to go now. I started this challenge exactly 16 weeks ago and as you can see I have covered over 820 miles with just over 50 to go. Ironic that after all the miles I should be just a stone's throw from Newport I am hoping to finish my walk in the next week or so. I had planned to hold a celebratory get together for my many supporters but Covid has stopped that so it will be a subdued celebration. A huge thankyou to everyone who has supported my efforts. I'll let you all know when I finally cross the finish line. Thanks again Bob

4 years agoAnother week and good progress made. I managed to do five walks of around ten miles and a couple of shorter efforts which meant I clocked over 60 miles last week. I have passed Inverness and Dingwall and am now heading into the wilds of Northern Scotland with just 100 miles to go,. Weather and legs permitting I should reach the end in a couple of weeks or so. I know that many of you have already supported me as I raise funds for Sepsis Research so thankyou. My total stands at around £1,800 but there is still time to boost the total. Bob
