Story
RNA Hinckley has proudly supported veterans, their families, and local charities within our community for more than 10 years. This year, we are raising funds for Veterans Afloat, a fantastic charity that provides veterans in need of accommodation with the opportunity to experience life on the water and enjoy the therapeutic benefits it can bring.
Earlier this year, RNA Hinckley purchased a new Standard, which significantly reduced our available funds. My goal is to raise at least £750, with all donations being split equally between RNA Hinckley and our nominated charity of the year; Veterans Afloat so we can continue supporting veterans both locally and further afield.
To help achieve this, I will be walking from Hinckley to the National Memorial Arboretum — a distance of just over 26 miles — on the 30th of May 2026, alongside fellow veterans. It will be both a privilege and an honor to complete this challenge in the company of veterans who have served our country, including at least one Royal Marine who completed the legendary 200-mile yomp during the Falklands conflict.
Any donation, no matter how small, will be greatly appreciated and will help us continue supporting those who have served.
