    Story

    Hi everyone!

So I decided to make this page for my mum because she was diagnosed with Breast Cancer in December. She had it removed along with some of her Lymph Nodes in February, she was then given the “all clear” and told she would be able to skip Chemotherapy and just have Radiotherapy. (A less invasion treatment than Chemotherapy for anyone who doesn’t know. It targets one area rather than through your whole body.)

However when she went for her first Radiotherapy session she was informed that she has to have Chemotherapy too. To say she was devastated doesn’t even cut it. Im sure everyone has heard the horror stories and seen it as most of us sadly have relations to someone who has been through it. My mum is the strongest person I know, in my 20 years on the earth I have never seen her tough exterior break, and for the first time I did. She was completely terrified and heartbroken, finding out that this horrible journey that she thought was coming to an end, just got longer and worse.

She is 2/4 treatments down and I don’t think she could anticipate the sickness and exhaustion that would come. To give you an idea of her charactwr, after her operation she returned to work a few days later despite being signed off for a month. After her first Chemo session she went back to work the next working day and only took a couple of days off because she physically couldn’t go. The second one she begrudgingly gave herself a week off because she knew, as much as she wanted to try, she cant just carry on as her normal strong self.

My mum lives in Brighton and I moved to London just over a month ago, luckily she has an amazing support system of friends but all of her family live quite far from her. So she has support physically but, although she would never admit it or ask for help, I know due to her taking time off work she is struggling financially and she is behind on bills. I‘m 20 and working to support myself and she would probably kill me if she knew I was making this page because she wants to be strong by herself (At least we know where I get it from!) But if I can‘t help her myself then I just have to try and do something.

She walked from London to Brighton in 22 hours and raised over £5000 for Macmillan Cancer Support, not knowing that a few years later she would be needing the support herself. She has held several funraisers for charities and got sponsors etc.. She has done so much to give back to people who need it and now it‘s time for us to give back to her.

She still has 2 Chemotherapy treatments left (6 weeks) and then she will start Radiotherapy after. So I set the goal at £2000, I didn’t know where to even set it as any help for her would be incredible. So I just did 2 months bills covered for her so she can not worry the rest of the Chemotherapy time at the very least.

Im sorry for writing such a long description, I just really wanted to give you all a good idea of the amazing woman that my beautiful Mum is and everything that she represents and has done for her community She is the strongest, kindest, most selfless person I know. She is the first person to help anyone, any stranger, any family or friend and she will do everything in her power to fix everyones problems. For someone who has been through a hell of a lot in her life, now battling this, juggling a full time job, 3 kids, 2 dogs, other life long illnesses which cause her pain and struggle every single day all whilst keeping her head up and a smile on her beautiful face, I could not be more in awe of her. I’m so lucky to have such an incredible role model to look up to and have as my best friend and if I can take a little bit of her stress away by helping with finances then I will try my best.

If you can donate that would be incredible, £1 is something. But if not, I know not everyone is in the financial situation to do so, then just sharing it and sharing her story would mean the world to me and to her (When she eventually finds out Ive made this!)

    Thank you again, Molls 💛
