Story

My Amputee Story: I was born with a one-in-a-million congenital bone deficiency, Tibial Aplasia - missing my tibia, knee and ankle joint - so I had to have a through-knee amputation at 14 months old so that I could live the most mobile life possible. I was fitted with my first prosthetic leg at 17 months and took my first independent steps on my first "ampuversary" (the anniversary of my surgery) when I was 2 years, 2 months old.

My Amputee Football Journey: As soon as I was up and walking, I was kicking a ball and I haven't stopped since! After being inspired by my London 2012 Paralympic "Blade Runner" heroes, I wished for my own running blade and my dream came true when I was gifted my first sports prosthetic for Christmas 2012 when I was 4! This changed my life as I could then join in more sport/PE and finally keep up with and actually run faster than some of my friends on the football pitch!

I first tried Amputee Football when I was 7 at an Arsenal Amps training session during a Junior Gunners event to celebrate The International Day for People with a Disability back in December 2015 and I loved it! I was then selected to join the EAFA Juniors at the first ever European Amputee Football Federation (EAFF) Junior Camp in Dublin in March 2016 - I had the most amazing time and was so excited to be invited by ITV London News to do an interview about it!

I've been going to the EAFA Junior Camps since the very first one back in March 2017 when I was 8 - they are held three times a year at Reaseheath College in Nantwich, Cheshire, and I always have a brilliant time! It's a fantastic opportunity to make new friends who are facing the same "amp life" challenges as me, who share my love of football, and for us all to improve our skills! The EAFA Junior Camps are funded by BBC Children in Need and it was all thanks to them that I had the best surprise of my life when I went with some EAFA Juniors on the England team coach to St George's Park for a training session led by Mark Wright and then our England heroes - Kane, Rashford and Sterling - joined us on pitch!

After Dublin 2016, I went to the EAFF Warsaw 2017 and Rome 2018 Junior Camps - it was great to be reunited with my amputee football friends from 10 countries in Europe and to meet new friends, to get some great training and to play in some fast-paced games, and to see some new cities! I had to miss the Hoffenheim 2019 EAFF Junior Camp as it took place during my last week of primary school, and then the Limerick 2020 camp was cancelled due to Covid and wasn't rescheduled in 2021, so after a 4-year break, I am SO excited for the 2022 camp this July which is taking place in Tbilisi, Georgia.

Although all our expenses are paid for at the EAFF Junior Camp in Georgia, each EAFA Junior and their parent/carer has to pay for their own flights from Heathrow/Manchester to Tbilisi via Istanbul, and as the airfare for two return tickets is around £1,000, we're fundraising to pay for our flights and travel insurance, and to subsidise the cost for all the EAFA Juniors selected for this camp so that they can all get to Georgia!

I'm so passionate about amputee football that I made it the subject of my GCSE English Oral Presentation which I did this week! Attending the EAFF Junior Camps has helped me develop so much over the last 6 years, both on and off of the pitch: I've become much more confident, not just as a player - progressing from playing on my blade to then using my crutches - but also as a person - meeting lots of new players from around the world!

Since my very first amputee football training session when I was 7, my ambition has been to play for the EAFA Seniors when I'm old enough and to represent my country at European and International amputee football tournaments - I'm also hoping that in the future the sport will become classified to be part of the Paralympics so that I can compete with EAFA at LA2028! Going to the EAFF Georgia Junior Camp this Summer will be a crucial part of my development to reach that goal!

Please donate whatever you can to help me and all the EAFA Juniors selected for the EAFF Georgia 2022 Junior Camp to get to Tbilisi - you will be supporting the next generation of England Amputee Footballers!

THANK YOU SO MUCH!
