Story

Riley is 5 years old, he was born with C.M.V virus - Cytomegalovirus.

CMV is the most common infection passed from mother to unborn baby. The majority of babies born with congenital CMV will not have any symptoms at birth and will not suffer any long term problems. However, two or three babies are affected by the CMV virus every day in the UK – almost 1000 babies every year. Congenital CMV is more common than Down's Syndrome and causes more birth defects and childhood deaths than Toxoplasmosis (from cat poo) or Listeriosis (from soft cheese). www.cmvaction.org.uk

Riley's Story:

I was born with a horrible virus called C.M.V which has given my family many challenges. I have cognitive delay, epilepsy, non verbal, global delay and cannot sit or stand unaided. I was deaf but now have cochlea implants and got to have care with eating and drinking. Although I have these challenges Mummy says I am her happy special boy! As I'm getting bigger it's getting very hard for Mummy and Daddy to lift me, but hopefully we can get some special equipment to make it easier for them, but it all takes time!

We are holding this event to try and raise as much money as we can to for a new wheelchair/buggy for Riley so, as a family, they can go walking through the woods and Riley can ride along beside his big sister while she is on her bike.

So please, if you could help in any way, big or small I know Riley and his family would be so grateful.

Thank you for your time.
