On the 7th and 8th July 2023 a group of 40 walkers from across Coop Property and Coop’s Property supply chain will take on a huge challenge of walking 52 miles around the lake district climbing over 9000ft within 48hrs. We have decided that all monies raised in completing this challenge will go to the Coop’s charity partner, Barnardos, MIND and the Manchester Food Bank as these charities sit close to our hearts.

Barnados - More than one in four children in the UK are living in poverty and the cost-of-living crisis will make this worse as families struggle to pay their bills. That's about eight children in every classroom. Growing up in poverty means children are at risk of going cold and hungry; they miss out on opportunities; and their physical and mental health suffers - all of which can affect them long into adulthood. Half of parents are cutting back on food shopping and essentials, and almost a quarter of parents (23%) have struggled to provide sufficient food due to the cost-of-living crisis.  It shouldn't be this way. No child should grow up in poverty.

Mind - Even though 1 in 4 people have mental health problems, most of us don’t get the help we need. This has to change. We’re Mind. We’re here to fight mental health. For support for respect, for you. We change minds across England and Wales by making mental health an everyday priority. By standing up to the injustices – in healthcare, in work, in law – which make life harder for those of us with mental health problems. We support minds – offering help whenever you might need it through our information, advice and local services.

Manchester Food Bank - We don’t think anyone in our community should have to face going hungry. That’s why we provide three days’ nutritionally balanced emergency food and support to local people who are referred to us in crisis. We are part of a nationwide network of foodbanks, supported by The Trussell Trust, working to combat poverty and hunger across the UK.
