    Story

On Thursday 16th of March 2017 Rhiannon Smith (21) was involved in a two car crash on the A48 between Newport and Chepstow at around 7.30am. Unfortunately the injuries she sustained to her brain were too severe and Rhiannon passed away on Wednesday the 22nd of March.
Rhiannon, eldest daughter of Julian and Gill Smith and sister to Sophie, was a wonderful young lady. She completed a degree in Sociology at Cardiff University last year and was currently completing her PGCE at Gloucester University to fulfil her ambition to become a junior school teacher. Her enthusiasm for teaching was difficult to match. She had recently said that she was having the happiest time of her life and thanked her family for enabling her to achieve these wonderful goals.
Rhiannon was the life and soul of a party, and left a mark on everyone she met. She was such an integral part of the Smith household and will be sorely missed, never forgotten and impossible to replace.

We would like to raise money to help support causes in memory of our beautiful Rhiannon. We have 3 areas we wish to focus on:
    1) Research into traumatic brain injuries - We plan to talk to universities including Cardiff and Birmingham about how we can support research into Traumatic Brain injury, especially Diffuse Axonal Injury.
    2) Supporting trainee teachers- we would like to enable someone to undertake the PGCE course who would normally struggle and we have been talking to Gloucester University about how we can help with this.
    3) Supporting local schools – contributing funds to local schools in need of equipment or other funding, starting with the ones Rhiannon taught at.
