Story

My brother Chris Matthews was homeless in Northampton and was tragically murdered last year. As a family we miss him every day. Sadly , many people view homelessness as a result of personal failings and poor choices but there are a number of different personal and social factors that contribute towards being homeless. Whilst on the streets Chris was able to utilise 'The Project 16:15' Breakfast in Bed Campaign which aims to ensure that no homeless person, or person in need, on the streets of Northampton goes without a hot breakfast, drink and any other essentials every single day of the week. Stan had been there many times to listen and support him in any way he could. I am not only doing this in memory of my brother but also for all those that through no fault of their own find themselves alone and on the streets and to give hope to those vulnerable people out there . I would like to show my appreciation along with my colleagues from Abington Park Surgery who have supported me at this traumatic time and who have chosen to fund raise for this project for a year. We did a 'Sleep Out' on Friday 1st March to help raise awareness and funds in order for us to achieve our target of £10000 and raised nearly £7000. This will be going towards purchasing a breakfast delivery vehicle to enable Stan to cover a larger area in Northampton making the amazing job he does now a little easier. We sell used good condition books at the practice and the funds will go towards meeting this target and we will also be doing other fundraising events during the year . Please look out for future event information.
