Story

I’ve decided to start a crowd funder to help get my family back together. As of today, I have missed almost half of my daughters life, and only spent two weeks with my wife since we got married In June.

I met my Emily 10 years ago at high school in the states. I was representing England as part of the English Alpine Ski Team, It was in Boulder Colorado where we fell in love. Now, I run a small ski club for children who have dreams of skiing in the Olympics. In 2016 we decided to settle and start a family, we were both totally naive of the legal process to do.

In 2017 our UK visa application for my wife Emily to live here in the UK got rejected. We lost over £2000. The hardest part to take was that the visa we got recommended on .gov.uk wasn’t actually eligible to apply for from the UK. I wrote to our local MP about how unfair it was for the government to recommend a visa on their website and straight up reject us. Writing to the Home Office didn’t help whatsoever. We were back at square one with lighter pockets.

Our daughter Sunni was born in December 2017, from which we had to pay £2800 to the NHS. Even though i’m British we still had to pay for Sunnis birth, as her mother was American. We were told a debt to the NHS could result in Emily getting blacklisted from the UK so we paid it immediately.

The home office also make it incredibly difficult to sponsor your spouse. For example, out of all the tick box questions, if one isn’t correct, you’re rejected, there’s no grey area, there’s no human emotion with regards to the application. Having been a director of my company for only 8 months, I don’t meet the specific financial requirements to sponsor my wife and British born baby. So we have to apply under “Exceptional Circumstances”. This means nothing is guaranteed. However if the visa is approved, Emily comes in on a 10 year program, which means every 2 1/2 years, we have to spend a renewal rate of £2500, for ten years! If the visa isn’t approved, then we will have to go through an incredibly costly appeal process.

All we want to do is live as a family and live honestly, so any help would be unconditionally appreciated.
