I've raised £5000 to The Restoration of the Barbican Mural by Robert Lenkiewicz for the people of Plymouth. A campaign by the artists son Reuben Lenkiewicz.

My name is Reuben Lenkiewicz I am the son of the painter Robert lenkiewicz. I have decided to set up a campaign to restore the Barbican mural for the future of the people of Plymouth and lovers of art everywhere.
The Barbican Mural painted by my father Robert Lenkiewicz in 1972 is a painting of true beauty and loved by the people of Plymouth. It deserves a future and in small steps we can make it happen. It is a tragedy for the future of Plymouth and a act of gross negligence to let the painting fall apart.
This campaign is to restore a part of the history of Plymouth and to save from certain destruction a work of genius.
I am in the process of setting up a group of supporters and experts and we intend to put together the necessary experts skilled workmen and artists to see this project to the final stages.
As Robert's son I grew up close to the painting of this mural. I watched Robert for hours painting it and discussing it. I also assisted my father in its restoration in the 1980's. I am also friends with all of the most talented of Roberts students who are skilled painters. I have a life time of connections with people connected with my fathers studio. I am in a perfect position to oversee this project and in my opinion it is a realistic project.
But it will require resources as with any large scale restoration.
It is my intention to complete this project in four stages.
1. Set up a small group of volunteers and experts to help me with the organisation and planning.
2. Undertake a survey and plan of the requirements of the work.
3. Choose artists/designers/restorers to undertake the work.
4. Oversee the work to the completion and organise a plan for its future maintenance.
I would therefor ask the supporters of my fathers work and the people of Plymouth to help me get restore this beautiful work of art. All proceeds from this campaign will go in full to the restoration of the painting. All help is greatly appreciated and a full account of the project will be listed here as the project develops.
Thank you all for your support and I feel sure we will be able to once again see this beautiful painting shining on a Devon summers day the way it should have all these years and the way it deserves to.
With great thanks Reuben Lenkiewicz
As the campaign develops further information and details will follow.
