Story

Combining Eleanor's background in healthcare and medicine and Claudia's experience working with non-profit organisations and voluntary initiatives, we have decided to embark upon an exciting and life changing humanitarian mission. In October 2017 we will be travelling to Ghana with the RESTORE foundation, a non-profit medical charity providing free reconstructive surgery and related health care services to babies, children and adults with disfiguring deformities from birth, disease, accidents or abuse.

In developed societies babies born with congenital abnormalities and those whom have sustained disfigurements due to injury or illness have the access to medical care within highly advanced healthcare systems. These healthcare systems strive to offer holistic physiological and psychological care and support for those in need. However, thousands of people across the globe in developing countries have little or no access to medical care and so many lives are debilitated by circumstances which could be bettered through reconstructive surgery.

From simple operations through to complex reconstructions the RESTORE foundation team not only aims to save lives but enrich them, as they educate and empower communities through provision of sugeries, healthcare and medicine. A team of world renowned doctors, nurses and a dedicated support team will dedicate their intricate skills and their time to support the most vulnerable patients and families. All of the medicines, facilities, medical equipment and educational programmes are funded by the foundation and it is with collaborative charity that the team are able to make this life changing journey.

This mission was initiated by a drive to empower, educate and advocate for those in need and with the support of friends and family we hope to demonstrate our aspirations and help change the lives of the families and communities we meet on our journey to Ghana with Dr Obeng and the RESTORE foundation.
