Renewing the Tennis Court Fencing
We are the Friends of Shelf Hall Park. Shelf is a small village near Halifax in West Yorkshire. The facilities in our park have been neglected, by the local council. We, as a group of concerned residents, are trying to restore the netting around the tennis court as it has gaping holes and is dangerous. The council are wanting to remove the netting but aren’t willing to replace it. We hope that the money raised would be sufficient to complete this project.
The group have future plans to also provide new facilities like a skate board park and a five a side football pitch aswell as trying to maintain the old ones like the bowling green, putting green. We would also like to reopen the pavilion, which is boarded up at present, and have a cafe there one day.
The most immediate thing_ though, is the tennis court fencing. The council say it is dangerous at the moment. Once the fence posts are removed that will be the end of this playing area for good.
We would be grateful for any donations no matter how great or small to help us keep our tennis court.
