Story
On Monday 22nd May 2017 Nell and her friend Freya went off to enjoy a concert together. Nobody could have contemplated the chain of events that followed. Nell, a lovely, bright, popular, young girl tragically lost her life. Nell’s family are understandably devastated, but the strength and dignity that they have shown is testimony to the values they share as a family and the wonderful people that they are.
Nell’s mum and dad, have taken great comfort from all of the messages, flowers and other tributes that have flooded in. Thank you to everyone for showing how our whole school, and local community, have been united in our loss and are supporting each other through it.
The Remembering Nell Fund has been set up to raise funds to create a lasting memory to Nell. One that she would have been proud of. The cornerstone of what is planned will be a new ‘Garden of Memories’. An area where people can reflect and think. It will be an area open to our whole community. It will also be an area with different sections to give comfort to people with different needs. A good example is the need to think about a sensory area that can be enjoyed by students with particular needs.
A small team from within the school has been formed that include some of Nell’s friends and they will be the ones who help to create the lasting tribute. The strong focus will be on creating a tribute that will be available for years to come. So we are asking everyone to support our cause. To make a donation, large or small, whatever feels right, and to leave your message
No matter how long people work in or are associated with schools, nothing can prepare us for the loss of such a wonderful and caring young lady like Nell in such tragic circumstances. We will say goodbye to Nell, but we will never forget that she was one of us. We will never forget that she was part of our school community. We will never ever forget Nell.
