Story
I have created this page after tragically my Dear Friend Rebecca lost her Husband, Soulmate, Best Friend and Father to their 2 year old son this week when he passed away suddenly, aged 38, despite her best efforts to save his life using CPR before the paramedics came, all in the presence of their little soldier, Logan. My heart is broken for them both and all of Jay's family. Rebecca has already suffered immensely this year with multiple challenges to deal with. COVID-19 has created a desperate financial situation across the events and arts industries and has meant her beloved business, The York Proms, which she founded with Jay in 2017, had to be cancelled and her music career ground to a halt. Rebecca had been supporting Jay to retrain to be a gas engineer and set up his own business, a considerable investment in their future that has now been wiped out.
I think it would so special if you could join me in supporting Rebecca through this very difficult period of her life by making a donation for her family so she can take the time she needs to grieve and also build a life for Logan. Jay wanted to take Logan to Disney Land in a few years because they were supposed to go with his own dad, who passed away when Jay was 17, but the plans were derailed at last minute. Just one of many things Jay can’t do for Logan now, but Logan can still experience.
Rebecca has always intended to set up a music charity connected to the York Proms to help children access music education and guidance, and this could help enable that dream too. It would be very fitting to see something positive come out of such an awful tragedy. Any help is gratefully received. x

4 years agoFrom Rebecca: Thank you so much to everyone who has shared and donated. It has helped to relieve some of the pressure and anxiety with losing Jay, which was so sudden and shocking. Last week, we laid him to rest with a beautiful, colourful Celebration of Life. More photos and videos will follow, but you can read about it here: https://www.yorkpress.co.uk/news/18692018.singer-rebecca-newman-leads-funeral-parade-jay-fewtrell/ and here https://www.yorkmix.com/vikings-sunflowers-and-a-procession-of-bikers-york-says-farewell-to-jay-fewtrell/

4 years agoFrom Rebecca The evening of 4th August felt surreal, but the fear of what the future would hold for our little boy felt very real. This incredible support has meant the world to me. Our path ahead is going to be so challenging without Jay but I know there are many people who care. I’m in the middle of planning to give Jay the big send off he deserves on the 2nd Sept. I am grateful to Faye, she’s been our angel. Please keep sharing the link so I can secure the future for Logan To everyone who has donated thank you from the bottom of our hearts.x
