I've raised £3000 to benefit the patients and staff of Ward 29 at Ninewells Hospital in memory of Ruby Stewart.

Ruby Stewart passed away in the arms of her loving parents in the early hours of Friday 3rd January, 2020. She'd bravely endured rhabdomyosarcoma for over two years. It's a particularly aggressive form of childhood cancer. Ruby's parents are committed to supporting the ongoing research into this illness through Ruby's Children's Cancer and Leukaemia Group named fund. Super Ruby's Rhabdo Raiser will help fund much needed research into the specific type of cancer that so cruelly robbed her of her life.
To honour Ruby's memory Ruby's parents, Claire and Andy, would like to raise money to benefit the patients and staff of Ward 29 at Ninewells Hospital in Dundee. The care, love and support that Ruby was given there was nothing short of sensational. The staff there didn't just care for Ruby's condition, they became her friends. They made her laugh and comforted her when she was very ill.
The support made a huge difference to Ruby's quality of life. Their support wasn't just limited to Ruby. They helped Claire and Andy navigate every aspect of Ruby's care. They became trusted advisors and supporters. Their help and compassion meant that Claire and Andy could spend more precious time with Ruby.
The team at Ward 29 did an amazing job of helping keep Ruby entertained. Long stays in hospital are so often associated with boredom. The team didn’t just make that time bearable, they made that time fun.
It’s important to understand as well that when we talk about the ‘staff’ or ‘team’ of Ward 29, we don’t just mean Doctors and Nurses. The collection of remarkable humans that cared so much for Ruby included doctors, nurses, domestics, play staff, occupational therapists and health care assistants. Each one made a difference to Ruby’s stay at Ninewells.
Ruby would be delighted to know that money raised in her memory would go to support all her friends on Ward 29.
Ruby had an incredibly kind heart and showing kindness to the people who cared for her with such compassion is the most fitting of tributes to her life.
Please give only what you can afford to.
