Story

25,000 people face a food crisis in Gloucestershire

Every day in our community there are parents unable to feed their children, elderly people living in fear, wondering where their next meal is coming from, the homeless unable to access food or shelter and the vulnerable unable to care for themselves without anyone able to go in and support them.

Covid-19 caused the catering and hospitality industry to collapse in the early part of 2020 preventing us from opening for months, but we chose to open our kitchens to support our chefs who volunteered their time to cook meals for those in need across our wider community.

We're not alone either, there are many kitchens across the UK giving their time and expertise to feed their community as part of the Open Kitchens initiative. Supported by Fareshare, a charity network aimed at relieving food poverty and reducing food waste in the UK, we are able to identify and distribute meals to the most vulnerable across our region.

You can show your support by visiting the Open Kitchens website and help spread the word by following Open Kitchens on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter & LinkedIn .

Thank you to everyone who has donated so far, your kindness and generosity is making a huge difference to many people in our community every day!

We can't wait to see you again on the other side, but for now, and more than ever we need to come together, so please dig deep and donate to help feed those in need.

With thanks,

Rob and the team at Relish Catering
