Story
Even though Northern Mongolia might feel a long way from you right now, you can be involved in a small grassroots project there.
The Tsaatan Reindeer Community need books. They live may live remotely but they want to learn more about the world.
I am a Mongolian guide who has been working with this community for nearly a decade. During my visits I have observed how keen all ages are too learn, but how few books the families have. With the current world situation meaning I have more time, I have made it my mission to deliver a wide range of books to the community.
The long term plan is to work with the community and other stakeholders to build a sustainable library to hold the books.
You can read more about the project in this article.
Every 1$ that you donate will go towards buying and delivering books to the Reindeer herding community.
I would love to connect with any of you who are interested in this project. I can then share photos of the project as it gets underway.

We're glad to share that several people and an organization recently donated children illustrated books in English and Mongolian, fiction and non fiction books and audio player. We will be collecting more books and receiving your kind donations! Thank you so much. Here we go!

5 years agoHello, everyone! We're thankful to every single person who donated and for the ones who are going to do it! "Ürtün khyarkh" is the one the most gorgeous summer camps in further north in Mongolia. Everyone pleased to be here due to its natural beauty and good pasture for the reindeers! The photo was taken by a reindeer herder woman called Otgoo and she posted it her FB timeline recently. Looks lovely!

5 years agoA picture given goes back to 2017 when me and my client Patricia visited west taiga where about 40 reindeer herding families live. There are more than 30 children under 7 years old who actively participate in summer camp there. Dukha children learn here to sing, to literate and to draw. We had lot's of fun with these children all day playing. Your kind donations will reach out to these children and they will enjoy their summer camp with more books.
