Story
On 30/07/2014, a fire began in the main arcade room on Eastbourne pier. Within 90 minutes the blaze had torn through the arcade room, the vast majority of the outer shell and all the innards being destroyed leaving just the original metal framework. Thankfully no one was injured, and the brave efforts of the fire brigade and the RNLI contained the blaze and prevented it from spreading to the main entrance structure and additional buildings towards the rear of the pier.
