As part of my final year of my Children’s nursing degree I have chosen, and been selected, to complete my 4 week elective placement in Uganda in June 2018 as part of the Nurse Uganda volunteer programme. This is a unique, life changing opportunity, enabling me to share my skills and gain experience of healthcare within the developing world.

This trip costs £2,800, the money raised will fund vital life-saving treatment for individuals and communities in Uganda, supporting three registered charities who work with vulnerable children and families in Uganda, enabling the development of the healthcare they provide. These include, Kiddies Support scheme, Kids Club Kampala and Uganda Hands for hope, I will be working alongside these charities, in both acute and community healthcare setting and having the opportunity to deliver health education to the children.

I will be doing various activities to help raise the money – the first a fun run with other nursing students going to Uganda, at the end of September.

I believe this will be a great way to consolidate my nursing journey as a student and I will be truly grateful for any donations!
