Don't have time to donate right now?
Story
We found a badly injured ferret on Chudleigh Terrace, Blaydon. Without going into graphic detail, his injuries were so bad, we knew he needed help. We think he escaped & attacked by another animal. We took it to Jane’s childminder who let us keep him secure & warm in her yard away from danger. We tried to get help from the RSPCA but we needed to get him to a vet immediately – more to end his suffering as we expected him to die at any moment.
Jane’s sister (Faye) kept him with a hot water bottle & blankets & nursed him until we could get him to a vet. We obviously did not want to be responsible for a vet bill but we could'nt leave it to suffer. Tyne Vetinary Clinic, Crawcrook said they would give him emergency treatment free of charge. We tried between us to locate the owners, he was friendly and his fur was in good condition, we think he was someone’s much loved pet. Tyne Vetinary Clinic were amazing, they kept him comfortable however we needed to find someone who had experience in treating ferrets to give him the best chance of survival. They spent time trying to find a suitable vet & we were soon on our way to Moorview Vets, Backworth. They said they would do everything they could to help him & all we had to do is make a donation towards his care. During his time he was given morphine, oxygen, had x-rays & other treatment (very expensive care). They planned to keep him on a drip through the night & remove his eye the following day.
All was looking positive until early evening. He took a turn for the worse & found a skull fracture & brain damage. It was decided that the kindest thing to do would be to end his suffering. This got us thinking, what if my pet got out & was hurt? What if someone found it and couldn't pay the costs. Thanks to moorside vets he got the best treatment with no expectation of us paying the full bill. We will be making a donation towards his treatment costs but would like to raise a little extra so they can continue to treat other others.

After finding an injured ferret, we knew we had to seek immediate medical help, moorview vets helped him, not expecting us to pay the expensive bill, we would like to raise money for them, as if this was our pet who was found, we would hope a vet would help if someone took it in
