Story
What we're doing
With millions of charities, NGOs and social enterprises operating around the world it's difficult for each one to get their unique story heard. This can be especially true for smaller organisations who must prioritise resources for delivering their core provision. As a result, finding time and funds to tell the world about their work is tough. This can often lead to a cyclical problem; if their stories aren’t getting out there then donors, volunteers and potential partner organisations aren’t able to make informed decisions about providing crucial support.
Using 7 years of combined experience working in marketing strategy, social enterprise partnerships and content production, we want to help impactful NGOs, social enterprises and charities tell their stories and to support them in telling future stories by up-skilling staff and providing resources.
From June - September 2018 we'll be visiting 3 organisations in Malawi and Sri Lanka, helping them to increase their online presence and ability to reach out to current and new potential supporters. We'll be making videos, taking pictures and documenting the amazing work they do in changing the lives of those less fortunate and facing disadvantage.
We're calling it The Reach Project. We hope these will be the first steps in a long journey of supporting brilliant organisations in telling their stories.
Who we're working with
Supreme, Malawi: Supreme is a sustainable social business based in Nkhata Bay, Malawi, who produce reusable sanitary products at affordable prices. Supreme provide access to reusable sanitary pads for thousands of girls and women, empowering them to go to school and work with dignity. Furthermore, they create employment for local Malwian women in fairly paid, sustainable jobs. www.suprememalawi.com
Mayamiko Trust, Malawi: Based in Lillongwe, Malawi, Mayamiko believe that the most effective way forward for communities facing economic and social hardship is to nurture talent and skill. The Mayamiko Trust run various projects towards this aim. We'll be working with them to crowdsource funding for the development and donation of solar-power rucksacks that will keep Malawian kids safe in the dark. www.mayamiko.org
Prithipura Communities, Sri Lanka: The Prithipura Communities of Sri Lanka is an organisation dedicated to the care and assistance of children with disabilities. Founded in 1963, they provide love, education and opportunity to children with severe disabilities who have often been abandoned by their parents. As residents grow older, they are given employment opportunities in agriculture and craftwork. www.prithipuracommunities.org
