After the tragic loss of my friend and fellow Custody Sergeant Matt Ratana in September 2020, I wanted to do something to remember him. I am a runner (Matt was most definitely not).
I set up a virtual 10k and with help from colleagues and friends a medal and a shirt was designed and the Ratana 10k was born.
I expected to get around 300 people involved, but this soon escalated and over 2500 people entered the event. The numbers were a testament to who Matt was and how many lives he touched. Many people emailed and called me saying that the event was great headspace for them.
I could not cope with the demand and the details of the event gradually went all over the world.
So here we are again. With the help of Kustom Clothing who have produced another fantastic shirt the 2021 event is up and running throughout April.
Participants have each paid an entry fee for this event and that covers the shirt, medal and postage.

50% of all funds go to The Matt Ratana Rugby Foundation, with the rest going to Matt's Partner.
