I've raised £500 to Banger Rally Challenge 2018 - Ramsay's European Nightmare does Gib or Bust 2018

On 30th September 2018, a group of nine friends are taking part in this year's Banger Rally Challenge ‘Gib or Bust’ which will take us on a five day adventure though 5 countries and 2 continents travelling over 2250 miles. The rally will leave from St Austell, Cornwall and finish in Morocco on Friday 5th October, completing challenges on our way (assuming we don't sink, crash, breakdown or simply take a wrong turn).
Most importantly, Team Number 49 (of approximately 200 teams) are taking part in the rally in aid of three wonderful charities that are dear to our team’s hearts; Penhaligon's Friends, Living with Hip Dysplasia and The Christie NHS Foundation.
‘Penhaligon’s Friends’ is a Cornish charitable organisation supporting bereaved children, young people, parents and carers throughout the county. Unfortunately, one of our team has a close relationship with this wonderful charity. www.penhaligonsfriends.org.uk
‘Living with Hip Dysplasia’ is a newly formed organisation. Its purpose is to provide support and helpful resources for adults whose lives are affected by the condition. Hip dysplasia is a condition where the 'ball and socket' joint of the hips fail to properly form in babies and young children. The International Hip Dysplasia Institute suggests 9 out of 10 cases of hip dysplasia are only diagnosed during adolescence or adulthood. It is the most common cause of hip arthritis in women younger than fifty and the reason for approximately 20% of all total hip replacements. One of our team members has this condition (and wasn’t diagnosed until her teens) which has resulted in years of pain including 12 major hip operations, culminating with 2 Total Hip Replacements at age 25. www.livingwithhipdysplasia.com
‘The Christie NHS Foundation Trust’ in Manchester is one of the largest, most technologically advanced cancer treatment centres in Europe. It treats about 40,000 patients every year. The Trust is also an international leader in cancer care, research, education and development. It has been pioneering cancer research breakthroughs for over 100 years and as of 2010, it has been home to the largest clinical trials unit of its kind in Europe. The Trust has supported one of our team’s family members through her battle with cancer, showing wonderful care and support to the whole family. www.christie.nhs.uk
100% of donations raised will go directly the 3 charities upon completion of the Rally. All the costs for entering and participating in the challenge are being covered by the team so all money donated is to go to the charities.
