Story
***We have been overwhelmed with the generosity shown in this just giving page. We are now confident we have the required funds to give Cinders the best possible treatment and future. If you would still like to donate, these funds will be used to help other abandonment cases treated at Rainbow Equine hospital. We would also urge you to support other organisations which work tirelessly to rescue and care for other mistreated horses and animals, which may not always receive the same level of generosity that has been displayed to Cinders. Thank you once again***
“Cinders” was rescued after being abandoned and suffering from severe facial, presumed chemical, burns. She was attended by the RSPCA and a local equine vet before being transported to the hospital for further assessment and treatment. When she arrived at the hospital she was very weak and was unable to open her eyes due to severe burns affecting her eyelids. It is thought that the attack was deliberate and resulted from a chemical being thrown in her face.
The team at REH treated her with pain relief and antibiotics through last night and this morning her face was cleaned and the areas of dead skin carefully removed to reduce the risk of infection. She was anaemic due to the ongoing blood loss and a heavy burden of skin of intestinal parasites. A blood transfusion was given to increase levels of blood cells and proteins that are vital for healing. Once the treatment had started, she started to eat and become much brighter stronger.
There are concerns over the injuries around her eyes and she will require ongoing replacement of the protein that is being lost across her skin as well as wound management and possibly skin grafts.
The cost of her initial treatment is being funded by the RSPCA and Rainbow Equine hospital. Contributions toward her ongoing care and the care of similar cases that are abandoned and brought to the hospital would be very welcome

Thank you for your work with Cinders. She's a beautiful girl and deserves a chance. The story broke my heart but I know you can at least help put things right for her and other horses like her.

Here's hoping that your life will be a long and happy one, Cinders.Get well soon, you poor little soul.I hope the person who committed this heinous act is caught. Life without parole sounds good.
