Story

For the last 20 years Colin Bond has been travelling over to Africa to support families and individuals in need. This started after his visit to Rwanda shortly after the genocide. He was deeply moved by the damage this caused to individuals and families alike and wanted to help them. His local church helped to support the starting up of his work in Africa. He raised funds through a variety of sources at home, accepting donations of redundant hospital equipment, tools, vehicles, beds, clothing etc, later shipping them out in containers, enabling the medical centres and orphanages across Rwanda and Eastern Africa before settling in Uganda. Colin's heart was to serve these people and provide for their needs. Developing this further, Colin purchased some land in Fort Portal, Uganda and built a hotel. His vision was to give people employment, a home and food. To this day, this has been achieved, with any profits being re-invested back into the local community and orphanage.

It was whilst on his latest visit in June 2018, Colin collapsed and died suddenly.

Repatriation costs are high. Colin’s wife has requested he is brought home to enable closure as a family, and so we are looking to raise funds to support these costs. Along with Colin’s desire, part of any funds raised will also be used to give back to those he viewed as his African family and friends back in Fort Portal.

If you have heard his stories, or been touched by the work he has done, and would like to donate, we would be very grateful.
