Peace people

This is Alieu and the community of Juffureh, the historic birthplace of Kunta Kinte in The Gambia.

I am working to raise enough funds before the start of Ramadan to provide the village with a borehole rather than a shallow well. A borehole will ensure clean, safe, and sustainable water for the community. Unlike open wells, it will be protected from insects and contamination, easy to use, and built to last for generations.

Currently, there is no running water throughout the entire village. Separate holes are dug—one for drinking water and another for irrigating crops—but these are unreliable and unsafe. A borehole will not only provide clean drinking water but also help irrigate plants and support agriculture, ensuring the community can grow their own food and become more self-sufficient.

Water is a basic human right, not a luxury.

Every donation, no matter the amount, makes a difference. Your support will help bring clean, safe, and lasting water to the people of Juffureh. Together, we can ensure that no one in the village has to struggle for this basic necessity.

Please donate—every contribution counts!
