Story
For years, Christmas has been tapping me on the shoulder, slowly but over time, firmly, reminding me that im a very fortunate individual who has plenty of love, life, laughter and roast potatoes around me. These thoughts have in turn made me think more about people who do not have these luxuries at Christmas time, or for any time of the year for that matter. The promise to myself to help out at a soup kitchen has lead to many enquiries but never stepping up and getting involved.
A pre Christmas visit to the shops with my son Frankie helped re-ignite this even deeper. A homeless guy was sat outside which caught the attention of my son, although we were out to buy gifts and items to magic up our house this Xmas, Frankie just wanted to buy food and drink for this fellow human. I of course had no resistance to this so off we went and purchased some basic provisions to keep him fed and watered.
The excess of Christmas was right there in front of me at opposite ends of the spectrum!
Then it clicked...
Last year i was going to setup a Mobile Pizza Oven business firing up delicious Neapolitan style Pizzas that has become my craft over the years. A mix of authentic Italian ingredients with local Purbeck produce, i know this will be a winner in and around Dorset and beyond!
A street oven on a trailer was procured, all the fixtures and fittings to trade at small fetes and festivals, all ready to roll and then the C word came along!
So i have this kit, i have the skills, i even have a prep kitchen...but no-where to go!
Or have i....
So here we go, ive put out a shout to fire up Pizzas for less fortunate peeps in and around the Dorset area and have had excellent feedback! To the extent that ive already got a booking on the 28th in Bridport with more in the pipeline! Plenty of people have offered to help, NCASS have helped with the compliancy side of things and a website, social media and flyers nearly ready to roll advertising the first gig.
I was going to fund as much of this as i can which i will still make a big donation towards but we need a small amount more to give us enough to cover a few winter months of street food Pizzas for those on the street!
Please help me to keep this going through the next few months and if we do well with this project/fundraising, i'll continue doing this every Winter...thats a promise!
When im up and running post Covid, ill be asking customers if they would like to donate a portion of a Pizza towards this project so feel this will have future momentum past this first attempt!
All money donated to this cause will only be used for costs relating to this project. Anything still in the kitty at the end of this run will roll over to next Winter. I will be as transparent as i can and give you my full trust that the money you donate, will feed someone who will really appreciate and respect your offering.
In short, your donation will go directly to the cost of the Pizza that will feed these beautiful people.
Please do get in touch if you have any questions, want to help or can offer your services in any way!
Thanks you all xx

3 years agoJust to let you all know we have 3 gigs this week serving delicious wood fired Pizzas for the homeless and vulnerable in and around Dorset. Yesterday we worked with Shelter in Weymouth, tomorrow we are in Bournemouth with BCHA and then Sunday Bournemouth again with Hope for Food. The money you have donated will cover at least 10 gigs this Winter so we will be doing more of the same around Christmas then in to next year. Thank you so much for helping us out, it gives us enormous pride to serve these Pizzas to people who really need them. xx
