Story

We are Alex & Doug and have been completing our very own charity rally called the Long Loop Rally, since July 2022. But during our final loop, in country number 40, Morocco, everything changed. A 5 week old puppy ran in front of our car, causing us slam on the brakes, lock all four wheels and swerve off the road to avoid squashing her. She had little chance of survival and kennels have a 90% mortality rate here for puppies so that was never an option. Of course, we felt fate had brought this little one to us and the only option we could see was to bring her home to the UK.

Turns out this is a lengthy 5 month process of vaccines and blood tests for rabies antibodies. For this time, Doug will remain in Morocco living in our tiny car camper for a few more months than planned. Alex will return home to go back to work in mid December. This will mean that our newly named pup, Tagha, won't have to go into any kennels and will have an amazing chance to get to know us both instead and spend lots of time practicing dog things on the beach and in the mountains.

The process and remaining in country also costs, and given we had been on the road for 104 days, 35,000km and 40 countries in order to raise money for charity when we found her, we are pretty skint to say the least.

She is the most gorgeous little white street pup and is very food driven (probably due to her background) which means she loves learning commands for treats. We have found that Tagha has a small issue with her front paws, they are weak and were not developing correctly, likely due to malnutrition, so we need to feed her a premium dog food in order to ensure she gets all the correct nutrients and the best chance of this correcting. Tagha is clearly a clever little pup and is learning quickly, but there is still lots of behaviour to work on that is left over from her start in life.

If you are able to help towards the costs of bringing this little one home we would be eternally grateful and know that Tagha will be too (though we anticipate she will find the UK a little chilly)

Thank you for all of your support,

Alex & Doug (& Tagha the Moroccan Rescue Pup)
