I've raised £250 to help Somerset and Dorset Animal Rescue save the lives of abandoned animals by contributing to their puppy plea appeal.

During the current time, more and more dogs and cats are being abandoned because of COVID-19 - and Somerset and Dorset Animal Rescue are working hard to support many pups that have recently been found in awful circumstances. They are the forgotten ones, left in boxes on the side of the road, discarded in rubbish tips and found by one of the shelters Somerset and Dorset Animal Rescue supports overseas. Liz (Somerset and Dorset Animal Rescue founder) and some very kind volunteers are doing everything they can to help and I wanted to do something to support their 'puppy plea' appeal and hopefully raise Liz's spirits at the same time, as it's difficult dealing with the cruelty day in, day out.
To help, you (or your friends, family or business) can donate whatever you would like to, to sponsor a sunflower. I will then plant a seed with your name on the pot (just tell me which name you would like, in your donation message). As the seed grows, I will share sunflower updates on my social media (@somersetcool on twitter and instagram ) and on my radio shows on Frome FM and when they are ready to be planted out, your sunflower will help to create a beautiful border full of bright flowers to keep Liz and Somerset and Dorset Animal Rescue's spirits up - and as a dedication to all the pups being saved. The money from your seed sponsorship will go directly to Somerset and Dorset Animal Rescue's puppy plea, to provide milk and food to help keep the found puppies and abandoned dogs alive. The seeds have kindly been donated by Manor Farm Cottage Flowers.
I've no idea how many people might want to do this, or how much we can raise, but I'm starting with the aim of 30 seeds. If more than 30 people would like to be involved, I will buy and plant more seeds and increase the size of the planting space. Thanks so much for your support.
