Story
Running a website can be expensive, especially as it begins to grow. Creating Philly Sports Network and walking down this path has been the greatest thing to ever happen to me. I've been able to make friends that I now call a work family, be given some amazing opportunities to interview players I look up to and build a platform to begin carving both my career and those of our writers.
As the site has continued to grow, the running costs have increased. Philly Sports Network is not owned by a big company, nor is there significant funding behind it. Instead, everything you see comes out of my own pocket. From security and server costs, to storage and everything else, I've quite literally poured blood sweat and tears into everything Philly Sports Network related.
I have given everything I have to Philly Sports Network, its writers and its fans. I work another job and often end up working 70 hours a week to keep everything running smoothly and to get as much quality content out as physically possible. I've written over 2,500 articles in the last three years and I wouldn't have it any other way, but there are limitations as the site grows and the nature of ad-based-revenue doesn't follow suit.
In order to even sustain the website's life, it's now costing us more than the website is turning over, which again is coming out of my own pocket.
In order to stop it crashing when an article starts gaining traffic, we've had to make some big upgrades behind the scenes. The only revenue the website generates is through the adverts placed on the site. We don't have a marketing team or anything of that nature. In essence, we're a group of guys who are grinding with everything they have to make their dream a reality.
There are certain things we would love to do. From investing in professional equipment for videos and podcasts, to organizing trips, tailgates and events. But as of right now, we're unable to do a lot of that because of where the site currently sits. By lifting some of the weight of the maintenance costs, we can distribute that same money around Philly Sports Network in order to create a better experience for you.
At its core, that's all this has ever been about. Bringing something fresh to the table and trying to inject a sense of passion and unique insight into the Philadelphia sports scene. To help enrich the lives of our readers and create an experience you look forward to enjoying with every click.
The aim of this page isn't to ask for money, but rather act as a support destination for those who enjoy our content and would like to see the site continue to grow.
Thank you for taking the time to read this and for believing in us. Thank you for reading our content and giving us a platform to be ourselves and share our passions on things that unite us all.
