I don't want this to sound like a sob story or a 'first-world-problem' so I shall try my best to just be accurate about my situation.

For years I have been saving up to do a postgraduate qualification degree. At first, it was for a genuine interest in learning and improving my education, but it later became something more. I have secured a place to do a Psychology conversion at one of the best places in the country. This conversion course is the first step into a career in Clinical Neuropsychology, without this conversion, a career in psychology would not be possible for me. My government should be able to help me out with the fees but I also need to live, and this is why I'm asking for your help...

A few months ago, my flatmate raped me. I was forced to move out of my cheap shared flat into a 1 bedroom place that's twice as expensive. My flatmate was also my colleague and I could not return to work for over a month. At the same time, my dissertation deadline was imminent and my landlord insisted that I kept paying rent on my old place. All of this led to a very stressful period, where all my savings quickly disappeared.

The hardship fund for my university were unable to help. And all my savings, which was the culmination of birthday money and summer jobs is now almost all gone.

My psychologist told me "don't let them take anything else from you". As hard as I tried, they have done... - My flat, my earnings, my postgrad prospects. This postgrad is a way for me to take that back and to regain my ambitions and myself.

Something like this alters your perspective on people... You become aware that there are people who do awful things, but also you are aware of all the good people who are ready to stand by you right from the start.

Despite everything that has happened to me, in this world I have a comparatively good life.
