Polly (Pocket) Rhodes is a beautiful 16 month old baby who has spent most of her life in hospital, she was born with left eye coloboma which is a rare eye condition that can come with lots of genetic conditions and complications. After a couple of weeks of being alive her mummy and daddy Jodie and Adam found she wasn’t gaining weight like she should and wouldn’t wake up to be fed and when she did feed she would scream her way through it, at 14 weeks old she had to be admitted to hospital for an NG feeding tube, she has an unsafe swallow and was put to nil by mouth so all her nutrition is provided through the feeding tube. Polly has no fontanelle of her skull, has hypermobility, sensory processing disorder, excessive sweating and paleness, Ketonic hypoglycaemia (which can be fatal if left untreated). This is all likely to be linked to a condition that Great Ormond Street have expertise in which would allow them to diagnose and hopefully treat her. The doctors at the LGI have come to the end of the tests which they are able to conduct so Polly now needs to go elsewhere. The option to be able to afford to go private, at Great Ormond Street could make a massive difference to this adorable little girl and she needs our help to make this possible!!! Any funds raised on top of the cost of Great Ormond Street will go towards the cost of travel, accomodation and any adaptations that are needed for Polly’s life ahead.
