Launching on World Ocean's Day, 8th June 2017, Carlos and Carolyn will paddle 12 marathons across Europe on their PLASTIC BOTTLE Paddle Boards; and in every marathon location, they will teach the local community how to build a paddle board out of plastic bottles.

AIMS
Raise awareness of plastic pollution in rivers and the ocean
Encourage more people to participate in stand-up paddle boarding (SUP) by making it affordable for all
Be the first people to complete a marathon on a plastic bottle SUP board.

SUP
Stand up paddle boarding is fast becoming one of the most popular water sports. It is a great way to connect to nature whilst keeping fit and healthy in a fun way. You can paddle almost anywhere - on rivers, lakes and the ocean and anyone can have a go… if they can afford it. We want to show people how easy it is to build a really stable board out of plastic bottles.

PLASTIC POLLUTION
There is growing awareness of the issue of plastic pollution in the ocean; by 2050 there will be more plastic in the ocean than fish by weight (World Economic Forum). Although plastic can be recycled, only 24% of the five million tonnes of plastic used in the UK every year is recycled or re-used. This needs to change. We will be taking 120 bottles out of the environment every time we build a board.

THE TEAM
As teachers and sports lovers, both Carlos and Carolyn want to inspire children and adults to participate in SUP, a beautiful sport that allows people to experience the joy of walking on water, whilst connecting to nature. We believe SUP should be accessible to everyone, no matter what your background.

We also want to bring people together to look after the environment. Sadly, when you paddle, it won’t be too long before you see plastic and other pollution floating in the water. The impact has a lasting effect and will make you want to do something about it.
