Story
The Place to Be Project is about so much more than food!
We run a local community Food Cupboard shop, cafe and clothing bank. Setting this is very costly but worthwhile to support to the people who need it.
This project complements the successful food bank which was set up during Covid-19. It aims to prevent people from needing to use the food bank and get more choice and dignity in choosing their shopping.
Donating to community food projects supports individuals and families in need, helping to reduce hunger and poverty locally. It provides immediate relief and additional support, such as debt advice, mental health support, and benefits guidance, to help people overcome crises and avoid future food bank use.
We are keen to offer additional support with cooking classes, healthy eating, and eventually a community kitchen garden.
Based within the Trinity Methodist Church, we provide a warm, welcoming space for our members to feel at home, a place to belong and a place to be supported.
Everybody should have access to good food. Everybody values community. Your Community Cupboards aim to provide both – and more.
