Story
In October 2016 a 6.5 magnitude earthquake shook central Italy, devastating numerous towns in the Marche region, among which Pieve Torina.
In this very town, Lucia's grandfather, Mario, was born in 1921 and even though he left the town very young, he always stayed affectionate to his origins.
The earthquake that destroyed Pieve Torina was the strongest since the 1980s and took place on 30th October, only 3 days before Mario passed away.
Pieve Torina's population is around 1500 people and only 2% of its buildings are currently habitable.
In more details, the earthquake has caused the following:
- ALL schools need to be demolished due to severe damages and rebuilt from scratch
- The Council is entirely destroyed
- Pieve Torina's Retirement Home is destroyed
- Police and fire stations are completely destroyed
- Both post office and local banks are unusable
- All churches are damaged
- 35 shops are temporarily out of business
We would really appreciate your support in this cause. All funds will be donated to the Pieve Torina Council to repair and rebuild the above mentioned buildings.
