Tanbook School

Pentecost is located in a remote region of Vanuatu, a chain of small Island's in the South Pacific. Resources a scarce here, with limited access via plane and boat. The region is subject to high volumes of tropical storms/cyclones, which occur regularly and have devastating effects on the poor quality infrastructure there. In 2020, the destructive cyclone 'Harold' completely destroyed the School in Tanbook village, with the roof torn off, leaving the walls to be ripped apart and the contents of the classroom to be destroyed by wind and rain.

In the Summer of 2023, I will be travelling to Vanuatu to take part in the construction of a new classroom in Tanbook Village alongside Caukin Studio and the Tanbook project. The build will be 8 weeks long from start to finish to complete, where we are hoping to deliver brand new teaching spaces and a library for the local school that was destroyed in the cyclone. I will be attending for the first 4 weeks to help with the design and initial construction phases.

The project builds on the successes of the Ranwas School Project that was completed in 2019 based on a similar brief which can be seen below.

ALL of the money raised will go straight towards the design and build of the new school at Tanbook, with any personal expenses (e.g. travel) covered personally.
