Story

I'm running the London Marathon in memory of Peter Botcherby

I'm blessed with the opportunity to run the London Marathon this year and I'm dedicating it to my father and fundraising to support lung cancer research through a micro-grant set up in Peter Botcherby's name.

Supporting lung cancer research in memory of my father Peter Botcherby

Peter Botcherby was a huge advocate of Guy’s and St. Thomas’ Hospital, working within the genetics department as a geneticist before being at the forefront of IT within the hospital; serving as Computer Systems Manager for over 42 years. As a huge supporter of research, collaboration, and open source - Peter enjoyed attending conferences and collaborating with engineers and researchers.

Peter Botcherby died in December 2022 after being diagnosed with non-small cell lung cancer in June 2022; just 18 months after his retirement from Guy’s and St.Thomas’.

Let's fund earlier diagnosis of lung cancer and beat it

Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer death because many of the symptoms don’t become apparent until the cancer is at an advanced stage.
