We are doing a 67 mile walk from Manchester to York on the 22nd March to raise funds for young Daniel below is a few words off his mum to describe Daniels illness 😢
I picked Daniel up from school on Friday 18th Nov 16 as normal. But this did not turn out to be a normal day.
One side of Daniels face had changed, he could not smile, his eyebrows didn't move, his eyes where fixed and he was unable to move his eyes sideways and he couldn't smile.
We visited the local AE and Daniel was diagnosed with Bell's palsy after balance tests and given prednisolone and a follow up appointment 1 week later...
1 week later on 25th Nov 2016, myself and my husband took Daniel he was exhausted, unable to walk properly, slurred speech, vomitting and still unable to move his eyes. I was not happy, I had a gut instinct something was wrong. I didn't know what but this was not my 11 year old sons normal behaviour. Again I thought he'd had a stroke. Was there a bleed in his brain??
Daniel had 2 MRI scans which showed a tumour at the back of Daniels brain near the cerebellum. We where immediately referred to the oncology specialists at the Royal Victoria Hospital Newcastle.
This news was heartbreaking Daniel was scheduled to have the tumour removed from his brain on the 28/29th Nov.
On 5th Dec we where given the devastating news Daniel had an aggressive growing cancer. The consultants had to gain international support as Daniel had lymphoma cancer in his brain.
