As many of you know, Penistone Leisure Centre was closed due to council cut-backs in summer 2011. Sporting Penistone is the community group which was founded to re-open it for the benefit of the community. Sporting Penistone opened its doors to the public on Saturday 22nd September 2012 for classes in the main hall, and the gym re-opened on Monday 9th September 2013.

Now in 2017, still run almost entirely by volunteers, the centre is moving from strength to strength, but still has various challenges to overcome! This is where we need YOUR HELP!

We have discovered extensive dry rot in the floor of the gym, which will mean major work to remove, treat and replace the flooring, before we can get that space back into use!

We have recieved quotes of around £10,000 to complete the required works. The leisure centre draws its income from classes, grants and charitible donations, so any help towards this amount would be hugely beneficial in helping us to continue to provide a gym for the local community.
