Funded on Tuesday, 26th November 2019

    Story

Thank you to everyone that donated towards the cost of the Christmas Tree on the Village Green! To celebrate, we would like to invite you all to the official 'switching on of the lights', with carols and mince pies around the tree on Friday 6th Dec from 5pm!

    See you there.

For more information go to Pembury Parish Council Facebook

You may have seen in the press that Pembury Christmas lights have been banned this year by KCC because our lamp posts can't take the weight of an 8kg decorations. It's too late in the day to fix the lamp posts but there have been calls from many residents to install a tree on the village green. Your parish council would love to do this - in fact we looked into it earlier in the year. The cost for the decorative lights and to get electricity to the tree safely is £1,800 (plus the tree). If you'd like to contribute towards the costs we can get this done - and ensure that Pembury has a Christmas this year. https://www.kentlive.news/news/kent-news/sadness-kent-county-council-bans-3563367

A massive thank you to everyone that has donated. We've reached target in just 3 days - an amazing achievement. We've now closed the Just Giving page - but if you have any outstanding amounts collected, please drop them off at the council offices at the rec. Your parish council is arranging for a cut tree to be erected on the green, and a planted tree in the new year, which we'll light up every year. We'll keep you posted about the lampposts as soon as we hear back from KCC. Well done - this is a fantastic achievement.
