I've raised £1687.8 to Support Pembury FC survive lockdown without huge debts! (We can't sell the pavilion again...) If you are wondering £1,687 = 2 maras!

Skip this first section if you just want to find out the challenge...
What's this all about...? Well, due to the lockdown, past and present, there hasn't been a lot of grassroots football going on lately. Perhaps this was a wise decision by the government - arguably masks were needed in our changing rooms before coronavirus, and social distancing somehow doesn't work on corners ("would you get off my toes?" and "is that lynx?, nice, i'm wearing dove...") Nevertheless this has caused some issues... Mainly financial ones, with the club currently sitting in a small amount of debt. It's hard enough getting match fees out of players even after they've played the full 90mins, and scored a top bins worldie! Let alone, when matches aren't allowed! Additionally we are missing out on event generated income - golf days, quiz nights and bingo have all been cancelled due to Coronavirus! Sadly, unlike those events, costs to the club haven't disappeared... For instance, we still incur the cost of maintaining Woodside recreation ground, utilities on the pavilion and parish council costs, which are all more that you would expect. Plus the 'footballs lost in hedges, bushes and down Pembury road' fund needs urgent attention.
That is why we need some donations to support the club emerge out of lockdown in a good state. Not hungover, like Chappell, on a Sunday morning!
Here's the plan...
I will run 50m for every £1 that is donated, with the aim of raising £500! Based on that ratio, this is what i could be running:
£100 = 5km, £250 = 12.5km, £500 = 25km, £1,000 = 50km (fml) and so on...
This doesn't quite match the efforts of club legend, Matt Rice-Tucker, who famously ran 7 maras in 7 days, but it's not bad...
Please comment on the fancy dress outfit you would like me to wear! Open to all ideas (will Princess Leia make a comeback... ?)
Event details: Saturday 13th and Sunday 14th Feb, 10am, Route TBC
