    Story

Hello folks after last years success of 4 peaks in 4 days and the fantastic amount we raised for 4 charity’s The Peaky Climbers have looked out their kilts and have decided to take on the West Highland Way starting on Monday the 19th of August.

For anyone who doesn’t know The West Highland Way is a 96 mile trek through the Scottish Highlands. running from Milngavie just north of Glasgow to Fort William.

We plan to take 5 day to complete the WHW and if that doesn’t sound challenging enough on day 6 we are climbing are old friend Ben Nevis again,

Once again we have chosen to raise money for some local charity’s close to our hearts. #ForLochy, #ForDougal and #CashForKids so please have a read of their stories,

All donations are greatly appreciated whatever the amount. Every little helps.

    With love,

Keith Richards, Steve Milne, John Sim, Dave Renwick, John Moran, Craig Reid

    The Dougal Morrison Fund

Although they're relatively rare, brain tumours are the biggest cancer killer of children and teenagers and the biggest cause of potentially treatable blindness in children - 62% of children who survive a brain tumour will be left with a life-altering, long-term disability. Those 62% are the lucky ones, most do not survive.

On the 11th December 2018, 9 year old Dougal was diagnosed with multiple grade 4 Glioblastoma (Cancerous brain tumours) for which there is no known effective treatments. This was a death sentence and left his family with no hope as the research in this area is drastically underfunded and treatments let alone a cure are still experimental and unknown. Dougal and his family were trapped in Edinburgh hospital from the 24th of November till January 11th, a month after his diagnosis when he passed away in pain and fear. There was nothing his family could do to save him but they have now began The Dougal Morrison Fund in his memory, All money raised will go towards finding a cure and could help prevent another child from this horrific fate,

    Cash For Kids

Cash for Kids fundraises throughout the year to provide help and support to sick, disabled and underprivileged children.  Everything raised in Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire is distributed in the same areas. They have three grant rounds throughout the year plus a Coat Appeal and Mission Christmas campaign. They are in direct contact with the Health Visitors, Social workers and project workers who refer families to them for help. They provide children with basic essentials such as clothes, beds and bedding, and also fund specialist equipment for children with special needs and sponsor many groups who provide much needed support and activities for children in very deprived areas of Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire.

In 2018 The Coats for Kids appeal provided £50 Primark vouchers to 1,321 children without warm clothes And through Mission Christmas they also helped 9,170 children whom Santa forgot. They could not deliver this without your donations.

    Lochys Voice

Lochy is 4 and a half years old and is non verbal with Autism. Earlier in the year we fundraised to help lochys mum achieve a target which has enabled her to get Lochy the treatment he deserves at Skybound Therapies in Wales this year in September.

Autism is a lifelong developmental disability that affects how people perceive the world and interact with others. Autistic people see, hear and feel the world differently to other people. Some autistic people also have learning disabilities, mental health issues or other conditions, meaning people need different levels of support.

As a team we are hoping to support Lochy and his family to progress his treatment within communication, speech and language, toleration, behavioural and self help skills. Lochy also has high sensory needs and would benefit from his bedroom being equipped with specialised materials to help him with his sleep patterns and his day to day functioning’s.
