Story

*************UPDATE*************

Well, we did it!!!! We completed 45 miles in 16 hours (19 with injury/rest stops).

Every single one of most made it across the finish line and every single one of us hurt and battled with various injuries and blisters. But, it was worth every single pain to achieve such a massive feat for such a tremendous cause.

We are so grateful to each and every person who has donated to this amazing cause or who have supported us along the way. We can never fully express the gratitude we feel to you all.

We did this for Ewan. We hope we’ve made him proud.

Thank you all so much,

Charlie, Andy, Dave, Karen, Charlotte and Wendy.

**********UPDATE**********

We have been overwhelmed by everyone's support and generosity so far in such an early stage of this challenge. We have already hit the initial target of £2500!!! Wow!

When setting the target we were unsure of what was achievable and what wasn't. To see what sort of response we've had has been staggering.

We'd like to not only thank everyone that's donated so far but to plea with everyone to keep sharing and help us raise even more for Ewan's family.

Thank you.

At the beginning of May 2021, colleagues of Ewan Smith, from Essex Police, will be completing a 71.449 kilometre walk in memory of PC 71449 Ewan SMITH.

In March 2020, Ewan suddenly and unexpectedly died.

Ewan was a family man and tragically left behind his wife, Natalie, and their three young sons, Austin and twins Franklin and Fletcher, aged just 5 and 1 at the time of his death.

At a time of hardship for the whole nation during a pandemic, Ewan’s close colleagues are aiming to support Natalie, Austin, Franklin and Fletcher during these difficult times.

Ewan was a dedicated and highly respected officer who at the time of his death was working at Grays Police Station, having previously worked throughout Essex in all three Local Policing Areas in various policing roles.

Charlie Cronin, Dave Roberts, Andy Gore, Karen Bryant and Charlotte Vale will be aiming to walk 71.449kms in honour of Ewan’s collar number. The walk will start in the South LPA at Southend Police Station then going to Grays Police Station in the West LPA and finally onto the Essex Police Headquarters in the North LPA. All of this will be done in one hit in less than 24 hours.

The walk, whilst significant in it’s route honouring each LPA Ewan worked in, aims to raise money for the family Ewan leaves behind, in order to support his family and his children where Ewan no longer can.

This Just Giving donation page has been set up in Ewan’s memory and in response to the challenge set by the Ewan’s colleagues.

To us Ewan was not just a colleague, but more importantly a friend. A friend whom we miss dearly.

To many of you Ewan was a colleague, a friend or family. And we know, he is devastatingly missed by all. Please help us remember and honour Ewan and to help us support Ewan’s family.

We thank you for your support.
