Iʼve raised £620 to provide a rainbow bench for the villagers of, and visitors to, Donisthorpe, to sit a while, reflect, chat or watch the world go by.

Funded on Monday, 21st June 2021

Don't have time to donate right now?

    Story

2020 has shown us how important a chance to think, chat or simply just sit and watch is to us all. Donisthorpe Community Group would like to create such a space. This bench, along with another one donated, and flower troughs donated and maintained by the Allotment Society, would provide this little piece of calm.

Hi, as you are all probably aware, the benches and troughs have now been installed and the project is completed. There were many people in our community to thank because without you and others, this project would not have been achievable. There is still £72.81 left after everything has been paid for. Myself and others thought that this would help with buying plants in winter and spring to make the troughs always look their best. I hope that is ok. A huge thank you to everyone that has donated, I’m very humbled to live in a great community 🌈

Hi, an update, we are so close. Thanks to the allotment Society and Jeremy Derbyshire for excavating the base ready for the shuttering. The wood was supplied by Borleys Concrete and Kev himself will be pouring the concrete and finishing the base on Tuesday morning. The benches were ordered a few weeks ago and after chasing for an update, I have now been told they will be here next week. The troughs have been painted, the compost is ready and bagged, and flowers have germinated ready for planting out. Next week 🤞🤞🤞🤞

Next Saturday there will be a few of us from The Orchard Allotment Society along with Jeremy Derbyshire digging the soil out ready for concreting later in the week. If you are passing, say hello. We hope the installation will be complete by the end of the month ready for the summer
