Story

“ Recovery “ is a broad term. The root of the word is “ a means of restoration “ or in French - “ to get back “ Recovery Runners is a community of runners up in Leeds who meet to run together regularly to support each other as they recover from alcohol / substance addiction, violence, PTSD and other mental health issues.

When i met the team at Recovery Runners it felt totally natural to get involved. Running has given me so much in my life in terms of mental well being.

On a very simple level there is a need for trainers, tracksuits, just basic running equipment. We need funding to set up events, provide support to people who need it and build the community.

Although local, the intention is to expand to other locations. To help those who need it on their Running Recovery journey.

In mid April i am running The Marathon Des Sables, a six day 250km long multi stage event through the Sahara Desert.

I’m hoping to raise some funds to help build this community and spread the message.

Recovery Runners - aren’t we all recovering from something ?
