Story
In the September of 2012 we went on a Sun holiday to Dawlish and stayed at a caravan site, this was the first time my partner Sue and i had a holiday for a long time. We then proceeded up to Blackpool to see my father and during this time Sue said she didn't feel well, so we decided to come back home, Sue felt lethargic, sleepy and was constantly tired as well as losing weight, we decided to see the Doctor. The results of seeing the Doctor was low blood count, sickness - the tests that followed included scans, blood tests too numerous to mention. It took 12 months to detect, Ovarian cancer being one of the most difficult to detect, it was the vigilance of one of the specialists that the resultant scan detected the tumor on the ovary. By this time the cancer was almost inoperative going from stage 1 to 3c, because of the time period, 6 Chemotherapy treatments followed to shrink the tumor leading to the surgeon going ahead with the operation, the result was good -he said he had got it all. The Hysterectomy operation took place on Sue's mothers birthday 12th February 2014 of all days and was very stressful for all.
The cancer kept away for over 2 years and came back last year as Sue's blood count went up and she needed further chemo, this time there was a reaction to one of the drugs and they had to use just one drug, but it reduced the blood count and the tumor shrunk and stabilised.
We now come to 2017, recently Sue's blood count has gone up yet again and we wait to see what further treatment is required.
The Doctors and Nurses have been brilliant at the Alexander Hospital in Redditch and Worcester too.
We have been informed that this is the type of cancer that may keep recurring.
I have wrote this story for a couple of reasons, one is to inform people that ovarian cancer is so difficult to detect, it was in Sue's case, if it had been caught at an earlier stage the outcome may have been different and secondly I am raising money to take Sue to see Graceland.

7 years agoWell, we are still battling cancer, on a different treatment at the moment as Sue had a reaction to the second lot of treatment last year, this one has not had such reactive side effects so far! We would like to thank every one that donated to try and help Sue achieve her goal going to Graceland. We raised £40 towards it. It's a start. any one with any fundraising ideas get in touch. But a big thank you for now. Sue and Paul
