Story

Pyrenees Trek for Domestic Violence

I am 60 this year and have no idea where the decades have gone! To mark it I am going to complete a 650-mile solo trek to raise money for a worthy charity in our community, South Liverpool Domestic Abuse Service (SLDAS). Starting at the end of August 2023, I will be going from the Atlantic to the Mediterranean over the Pyrenees Mountain range, crossing between Spain, France and Andorra on route.

The total ascent will be over 50,000 metres and I have the joy of a one-person tent for 42 days and -5 degrees at night, especially above the snowline. There will be a few glaciers to cross and lots of peaks to summit, but I get to wake every day to a big sky. Although I may not be selling this to you, it will be a challenge worth the effort if it makes even a small difference. Any donation is welcome.

SLDAS help women live free from violence and abuse, offering support through therapeutic programmes and activity groups. I have chosen this charity because we all have family, friends and colleagues who may have seen how domestic abuse, whether it be through patterns of coercive and controlling behaviours, physical violence or even forced marriage. With your help we can all support in providing help, advice and refuge to others in our community. South Liverpool Domestic Abuse Services/Refuge
