Story
***Important Note***: Some people have pointed out that the total raised figure at the top of the page makes it look as if we have a lot of money 'in the bank'. Unfortnately this isn't the case, the figure represenst the total amount of money that we have been able to raise since this page was started about seven months ago. For each trip we extract whatever we have raised since the previous trip and spend that on aid and things like fuel costs for running the minibuses so we are constantly in need of further donations to keep our trips viable.
We are an enthusiastic group of volunteers working from Oxfordshire. We run aid trips every 2 months, working with Care4Calais, the Refugee Community Kitchen and Utopia56. It is extremely important that we continue to provide aid and volunteers to the charities caring for the migrants and refugees who continue to make their way to Northern France in an attempt to get to the UK. Although there are no official camps there anymore, there are men, women and children sleeping rough, at risk from traffikers and the French CRS, who constantly harass, pepper spray and teargas these vulnerable human beings, fleeing poverty, famine and war. We go to bring back the truth of what we witness.
Since the bulldozing of the 'Jungle' by the French authorities in December 2016 the situation has been growing steadily worse and after a large section of the camp at Dunkirk burned to the ground it can only justifiably be described as desperate.
On our trips to Calais and Dunkirk we've met children growing up in fields by the side of motorways, having their nappies changed on bare concrete and living in bushes. We've distributed clothes, food and sleeping bags to young boys who are beaten up night after night by the riot police. We've seen the French police pepper spray refugees and their belongings to make them unusable, simply for being there.
The money raised will be used to buy much-needed supplies, food, nappies, sanitary products etc for our ongoing trips. Our next trip is scheduled for the beginning of
September 2018. We're aiming to take 2 x 17 seater minibuses with 35 volunteers and aid again.

7 years agoA Huge, huge thank you to everyone that has donated to our page. We really couldn't do this without you. Our most recent trip was an enormous success, over two days we prepared and cooked a hot Chicken Biryani for Iftar for 500 Muslim refugees in Calais and Dunkerque. One of our regular volunteers, York University student Ruben has produced this video of his experience, one that he and the rest of the team will never forget.

7 years agoHuge thank you again to everyone that has supported us over the last few months, it's hugely appreciated. Thanks to your generosity we were able to take out two 17 seat minibuses with 32 volunteers (double the size of our previous largest party) and a large van stuffed with aid this time. This, in turn, allowed one of the charities we work with, Care4Calais to plan and execute several large distributions that wouldn't have been possible otherwise. Longer report with photos here: http://bit.ly/2zzhZEg Next trip is end of Jan 2018

7 years agoMany, many thanks to everyone that has donated towards our efforts so far it's hugely appreciated. We're going back out on the weekend of November 24th but this time we'll be taking 28 volunteers, our largest group to date as well as supplies and aid for the winter. We've also been able to enlist the help of a couple of schools and kid's clubs who are now busy putting together around a hundred children's backpacks filled with crayons, paper, toys and other goodies to distribute to the children at camps in Calais, Dunquerke and Brussels.
