ONE MILLION REVOLUTIONS - Lejog - 2020 [Aug 15-23]
Why is our Team Name “One Million Revolutions” well, that is the rough number of times each of our wheels will rotate on our journey from Lands End up to John O’Groats!
On the 15th August 2020, Tim Freeman, Matt French, Baden Johnson and Andy Burns will be cycling the 1500km, famous Lands End to John O’Groats route in 9 days in aid of their four chosen charities.
It is a unique time for us all at the moment with the current COVID-19 pandemic around us. Therefore it is ever more vital that awareness and money is raised for the charities that provide so much support and research that often we don’t know we need until they provide the support.
We have chosen to split all monies raised equally between the charities we have elected due to their personal meaning to us, there is of course a reason these particular charities have been chosen, you will be able to read below.
Any messages of support, money raised will be incredibly appreciated.
Wish us luck, we’ll keep you updated with progress through this page :)

St Peters Hospice - Tim Freeman
St Peter’s Hospice is a Bristol charity caring for adults with life-limiting illnesses. They aim to improve the quality of terminally ill patient's life while extending care and support to their families and loved ones.
They provide physical, psychological and spiritual care for their patients in their own homes as well as at the Hospice. St Peters Hospice also teach other healthcare professionals about how to care for people at the end of their lives.
My Dad spent a number of months under the care of St Peters Hospice whilst terminally ill from Cancer. Dad was a one-of-a-kind who loved life, inspired others and thrived on having fun. He is sorely missed by all. He was a Bristol businessman, a loving husband and father of three. Dad loved his friends, family, holidays, his business and earlier days of tennis. I will be cycling to raise much needed awareness for St Peters Hospice that supported Dad and us in the final few months of his life. Dad, I’ll be thinking of you on the hills and drinking a glass of red with you at the finish.

Over The Wall - Andy Burns
Over The Wall is a charity that helps children, young people and their families reach beyond the boundaries of serious illness to discover a world of mischief, magic and new possibilities. They do this by providing free of charge activity camps funded by the charitable donations of others. They take children aged 8 to 17 years, living in the UK, who are currently receiving treatment, or experiencing health challenges.
They also offer Sibling Camp and Family Camps for families who have a child, who are currently receiving treatment.
I worked closely with this charity whilst Rowing across the Atlantic in 2018 for them and found them personable and extremely dedicated and passionate about what they do.
As a charity they take all the stress away during the camp from the day to day treatments and family stresses involved in looking after ill children and help give both the families and children restbite and distraction.

Children with Cancer UK - Baden Johnson
Children with Cancer UK is a charity that raises and invests money for vital, specialist research into the causes of and treatments for childhood cancer. Their mission is to improve survival rates across all types of childhood cancer and support children and their families to live better with and after treatment.
Having only finished treatment from testicular cancer myself, a year later we received the devastating news that my nephew, who turned 3 in March, had been diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Lyphoma. He is currently around 6 months into a 3 year chemo program and each day that passes he is one step closer to being able to ring the end of treatment bell. I am so proud of him and my sister and her husband for staying strong and keeping positive and I know they will be my motivation to keep cycling when the legs start to cramp and the finish line feels so far away.

British Heart Foundation - Matt French
The British Heart Foundation is an organisation dedicated to the research and prevention of all heart and circulatory diseases; Heart diseases. Stroke. Vascular dementia. Diabetes. They are all connected. I’m excited that monies raised will contribute to finding preventions, treatments and even cures.
The BHF is very personal to me, and my family, having lost my Dad, Malcolm, very suddenly to heart failure 23 years ago. Dad loved life, and his family, and really lived life to the full - something I strive to do everyday too. I'll be thinking a lot about him, and home on this adventure, and look forward to enjoying a cold beer at the finish line to celebrate and remember the good times we used to have together!
